Your job. Your marriage. Your family. Your growing collection of stuff. These are all good things, and these were the things that were supposed to make you happy. But the harder you pursue them, ironically, the more happiness seems to elude you. Why? Is it because these things aren’t important enough to you? Do you need to just push harder? No. Usually the problem is that these good things have become ultimate things in your life. In short, they’ve become idols. And the only way you will derive any true satisfaction from them is when you are finding your ultimate satisfaction in the One who created them all.
